Horse Betting For Beginners
First off is the horse betting bet of the “Exacta” also known as the “Perfecta”.
This is simply picking the first two horses to finish 1st and 2nd in the exact order of finish. If, for example, you liked the #4 and the #3 in a race, you can bet an exacta, yet you would need to figure out which horse you wanted on top to finish first. If you liked the #3 a little more than the #4, then it would be a 3 – 4 exacta.
For the “exacta box” bet. An exacta box simply means that you are betting in a way that either the #3 or the #4 horse can finish in any order, first or second. But, an exacta box will cost $4.00 (using $2. minimum bets). It is just like betting 4-3 for $2, and another bet for 3-4 for $2., but it appears on one mutual ticket if your at the race track betting.
A Quinella is the same as the Exacta Box but it costs $2 instead of $4.
Of course it pays much less than the Exacta. Not every track offers Quinella betting and is geared more towards dog racing, yet you will find it at some horse tracks.
